Although it is little known in the western world, Mount Kailash is one of the most sacred spots on earth, and is a holy pilgrimage site for people of the Hindu, Buddhist, Jain and Bon faiths. Pilgrims and tourists alike perform a seriously challenging kora – a walk circling a sacred site – around the base of Mount Kailash. And it is also a place of singular and unparalleled beauty.

  • Slovenian Antheme
    Machu Picchu

While returning with the train from the Machu Picchu in Peru we met a group of very artistic Slovenians in the train. Whe had an animated time, and they where drinking local Peruvian liquor. I don’t know of it was due to the liquor but suddenly they began to sing their national antheme. The low male-voices and the very melodius sound made us feel lyric. France Prereren is Slovenia’s greatest and most celebrated poet.

    The restaurant

In Zakynthos we encountered the Greek hospitality and the very famous Greek kitchen. The most common meats are beef, pork, lamb, and chicken. Fish and seafood are found mainly on the coast and in cities but, with the exception of squid, are often expensive. Olives are grown throughout Greece, and olive oil is used a great deal in cooking. Salads are often eaten with the main meal. Main courses include souvlaki, a shish kebab with cubes of meat—often pork or lamb—and vegetables, and stuffed eggplant or tomatoes. Pasta is also popular.
